While speaking to an actor, he told me that taking criticism for acting is harder than it is for writing because “well, the work of writing is already done.” I’m thinking:

1. as a writer, even if the play has no bearing on my life, I still have absolutely no distance from it,
2. everything I write is my fucking child and,
3. a play is never, ever finished.
